Day 8 Goodbye

It's always a sad day when we have to wake up and say goodbye to our stay at the beach. We stand on the porch and take one more mental picture to carry with us till next year.....as I beg to stay just another week.....

Day 7 Good Day Sunshine

Sooooo...we continue to have good times.  The kids have slight Bieber Fever so they were thrilled to dance to his tunes airing on the Today Show this morning.  Our kids have some serious dance moves.  We went down to the beach a little earlier today so we could drive into town to go to the famous LuLu's for lunch.  It was SO yummy!  They have created a fun, festive atmosphere that the kiddos especially love.  A huge sand dune that they could climb up and run down followed by filling up buckets of water in their fountain.  The afternoon was again spent relaxing by the shore and taking in all the beautiful-ness of being at the ocean.  At dusk we all head out to take some important beach pics.  The gorgeous girl on the bottom left is MissMadison.  She came along this week to help out with the kiddos!  ...and boy, do they LOVE her!  She's a natural and such a blessing to us this week.

Day 6 Pocketful of Sunshine

I told Doug today that it doesn't get much better than this... I could sit on the beach all day just watching the waves come to shore.  I've been able to actually read a book this week for the first time in years (other than a parenting book!)  It makes my heart happy seeing my kids happy as they jump the waves or roll around in the sand.   We went out on a sandbar and got to see a couple sting rays up close... even a small shark!  Dolphins also made an appearance in the distance.  The ocean was fairly calm today and everyone enjoyed swimming out in it for awhile.

Day 5 Sunshine On My Shoulders {makes me happy!}

Our 5th day at the beach was once again beautiful and full of good times.  Every morning after breakfast the kids want to walk down our stairs to the area under our home to play in the sand....it's like pre-game.  After everyone gets sunscreened-up (which takes a solid 30 minutes) we walk out to our tent we have set up.  We usually play and lounge for a couple hours then head up to the house for lunch, followed by naps, then back to the beach!  We grilled out tonight and had a delicious meal... cobia (a type of fish), corn on the cob, bowtie pasta and pineapple! Yum-O!  After dinner we headed out with flashlights in hand to look for sand crabs.   We found and caught 3.  The night was full of excitement!  After the kiddos were read bedtime stories and tucked into bed, we adults sat out on the porch and looked at the millions of twinkling stars in the sky.  Our God is so huge.  Creation is full of His Glory.

Day 4 Here Comes the Sun...do do de do

We enjoyed another fabulous day at the beach.  The sun was in its full glory!   The ocean was calmer today also, much more fun to brave.  Another day of wave jumping, sand castle making, shell collecting and memory making!
...and of course, LET'S GO THUNDER!!!!!   The adults went to a local sports bar to cheer on our Thunder!  One game down, 3 to go!

Day 3 SUNSHINE!

WE HAVE SUNSHINE!!!   We headed down to the beach early to enjoy a day of fun in the SUN!   The kids loved playing in the waves and building sandcastles.  The waves were huge because of the storms (...lifeguard award goes to Adam for making an early morning rescue of a girl who had become overwhelmed w/ the waves.)  The girls enjoyed finding shells that the tide rolled into shore. The boys had fun scooping sand into their dump trucks. Good times were had by all.  Cozy naps were in store for the afternoon followed by fresh, yummy seafood for dinner!  De-lish!

Day 2 Rain, Rain, Go Away!!!

We woke up Sunday to more rain...all day. We did have a little break in the afternoon and the kids were able to go out for a few minutes and run around on the beach. So what do you do when you're at the beach and it's pouring?  You relax.   Eat pancakes.   Watch movies.   Listen to music.  Color.  Play on the iPad.  Take naps.  Have a dance party.  Browse a souvenir shop.  Get out and go grab dinner at the popular Shrimp Basket.  Have fun bedtime stories.  ...Be hopeful for tomorrow!

Day 1 Rain or Shine

 On Friday morning we headed out with a truck loaded full of a weeks worth of packing! We had been counting down the days and at 6:30 AM Corb and Paige were standing by my bed with huge grins on their faces exclaiming 'we get to go to the beach today!!!!'  We made a stop in Keller,TX to meet our friends, the Jones, so we could carpool the rest of the way...complete with walkie-talkies...you can imagine the fun.
We noticed the day before that we could expect rain for most of the week :(  We didn't want to believe it...but it was the truth...inches and inches and inches.  However, when we arrived at our beach house the skies had cleared long enough to go stick our toes in the sand and enjoy wave jumping for awhile!  Our prayers were answered.

We ended the night playing a game of Rack-O! Good times.
